PE Global is currently recruiting for an Engine Build Technician to join our engineering client based in Peterborough. The role is an initial 12-month contract and the rate for this role is up to £22.50 PAYE p/hour.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out engine build, strip, rebuild, and mechanical assembly activities across a range of diesel engine platforms.
  • Support engine rigging and de-rigging within test facilities to meet project and customer requirements.
  • Diagnose mechanical faults and assist with root cause investigations.
  • Inspect engines to ensure they meet quality, safety, and performance standards before testing.
  • Work closely with engineering and test teams to support engine development programmes and project delivery.
  • Maintain accurate build documentation while adhering to standard work instructions, safety procedures, and quality standards.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives, including Lean and 5S activities.
  • Prepare engines for testing and ensure work is completed to meet demanding project schedules

Requirements

  • NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering, Motor Vehicle Engineering, or an equivalent qualification.
  • Time-served apprenticeship, or equivalent military or aerospace engineering qualifications.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in engine build, strip, rebuild, and mechanical assembly.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles and fault-finding techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, with basic Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Experience within engine testing, aerospace, military engineering, or similar mechanical environments is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Strong commitment to safety, quality, and delivering work to tight deadlines.
