Job Description:

Our Engine Test Technicians are responsible for carrying out tests on complete engines or sub-assemblies, also rigging and maintaining the test hardware. Engine Test Technicians are also responsible for operation and programming of automated test equipment, in accordance with Cosworth standards and practices.

The Role:

  • Fitting, removing and operation of engines (part or whole) onto dynamometers or motor rigs.
  • Fitting and set up of instrumentation onto test pieces.
  • Operation, maintenance, and calibration of common test bed equipment.
  • Able to run dynos and rigs control systems in test both manual and automatic modes.
  • Be able to change testbed control system variables at engineers direction.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues arising that prevent test work progressing.
  • Have familiarity with at least one engine ECU software.
  • Assist dyno engineering with test bed conversions/upgrades as required.
  • Maintain paperwork for tracking, lifting, fault database, maintenance sheets, and process measurements/checks.
  • Consider the health and safety, environmental and energy impact of all activities.
  • Support the Company’s compliance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018 by following company policy and best practice.

  • Previous experience working in an engine test environment.
  • Manual dexterity.
  • A customer focused approach.
  • Apply structural logical approach to work, working in a clean organised manner.
  • Excellent time management and planning skills.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Confident and clear communication; verbal and written.
  • Good understanding of internal combustion engines and engine test methodologies.
  • BTEC, ONC or higher qualification in a relevant engineering discipline.
