Structural Engineer
The Opportunity
We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Structural / Bridge Engineer to join our Consulting Structures team in Dublin.
Salary: €45,000 - €55,000
Standard hours of work: 40 Hours per week, with flexible working practices available, including hybrid, part-time, and flexible working patterns.

You will join a vibrant team of engineers, project managers, data analysts, commercial experts, safety specialists, and operatives working together to support national and regional infrastructure priorities.
Amey’s growth in Ireland is supported by strong partnerships with transport authorities such as Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) and Iarnród Éireann through various infrastructure frameworks. These include projects to improve strategic road and rail networks, enhancing safety, strengthening resilience, and improving connectivity for communities across Ireland.
What you will be doing
Our Structural Engineers play an important part within the Consulting Structures team. As a Structural Engineer, you will provide effective support and assistance to your Senior Engineer on a variety of Structures public transport schemes, whilst supporting and mentoring junior engineers and technicians. As part of our Dublin team, you’ll work on local projects and support initiatives in Ireland and the UK remotely. Responsibilities include:
- Working in a team to produce technically sound engineering solutions
- Taking ownership and supporting the management and technical delivery of bridge engineering projects from start to finish, including:
- Design development
- Structural assessments
- Principal Inspections / Special Inspections
- Feasibility and other technical reports
- Preparation and checking of designs, calculations, drawings, and documentation as part of the production of scheme deliverables that satisfy the criteria of quality, cost, and programme
- Overseeing the actions of more junior members of staff undertaking similar tasks and taking responsibility for their actions
- Liaising with client and supplier representatives at peer level, attending progress meetings, and responding to queries
- Driving effective Health and Safety practices within the team

What we are looking for
We want to hear from you if you have:
- Developed experience and expertise within the Structures field, probably gained in an Assistant Engineer role or equivalent.
- Comprehensive knowledge of structural design processes and procedures.
- An ability to produce or oversee the production of technically sound engineering solutions, complying with all relevant technical standards and Client’s requirements.
- Very good working knowledge of relevant software and similar analytical tools (e.g., LUSAS, Autodesk Structural Bridge Design).
- A good understanding of Safety, Health & Welfare, and risk assessment.
- Substantial experience in the management and communication of hazards and risks on projects and ensures appropriate risk mitigation and transference has been applied.
- Evidence in working towards Incorporated or Chartered status with Engineers Ireland, ICE, or IStructE, or an equivalent professional licence gained through the professional institution to which the individual is aligned is desirable and may be essential on particular contracts.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in an appropriate subject or demonstrable equivalent further learning.
