About ENGIE

At ENGIE, we accelerate the energy transition by investing in the infrastructure that powers a sustainable future. The Dinorwig Station Replanting programme is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to modernise one of the UK's most iconic pumped-storage hydroelectric stations over the next decade.

We are looking for a Control & Instrumentation Assistant Engineer to join this landmark project. You will shape modern control system architecture, integrate complex plant interfaces, and help deliver safe, high-performing systems for the upgraded station. Your work will directly support the long-term reliability of a critical national energy asset.

Summary Of What You Will Do

  • Provide technical support in developing robust PLC/SCADA/HMI and instrumentation architecture for the upgraded plant systems.
  • Coordinate interfaces between control systems, digital governors, excitation/AVR, protection relays, VFSE starters, and station power distribution.
  • Review contractor C&I design deliverables, control strategies, and system configurations against technical specifications and standards.
  • Plan and support Factory Acceptance Tests, Site Acceptance Tests, and on-site commissioning of control and instrumentation systems.
  • Resolve technical issues during installation and commissioning, ensuring compliance with quality, safety, and functional safety requirements.
  • Support design reviews, safety studies, and hazard assessments related to control and automation systems.
  • Align C&I activities with project schedules, risk management, and change control processes alongside the Lead Control Engineer and Technical Project Manager.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
