Due to strong performance and continuous growth, we are currently expanding our Engineering Consultancy team and looking for an Associate Director Mechanical Engineer to join our market-leading technical asset management team, on a full-time permanent basis.

This role is part of our Engineering Consultancy department, who provide a multitude of services across the UK and Europe. The role will be an exciting and diverse one, providing an opportunity to work on a wide range of exciting projects across a number of sectors. Occasionally this will also include asset management and technical due diligence surveys to support CBRE and T&T's wider teams.

With a focus on Commercial projects, the successful candidate will focus on delivering a range of M&E Engineering Consultancy including Design, Technical Due Diligence, Dilapidations, M&E Audits, Condition Surveys, PPM/Life Cycle Costing to a range of clients. This role will suit a client-facing Associate Mechanical Engineer with technical design skills. The individual must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written; be a good team player, and also able to demonstrate reliability, flexibility, and initiative. The candidate must also have the ability to work to deadlines and be able to adapt to ever-changing client and market requirements.

  • Provide strategic leadership for Mechanical Engineering services within the Engineering Consultancy business.
  • Lead and oversee the delivery of Mechanical and MEP consultancy projects across multiple sectors and client portfolios.
  • Act as Project Director and technical lead on major commissions, making key technical and commercial decisions.
  • Drive business development activities, identifying opportunities for growth with existing and prospective clients.
  • Build, maintain, and strengthen senior client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor.
  • Lead multidisciplinary project teams and collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage project financial performance, resource planning, risk management, and quality assurance processes.
  • Provide technical governance and review of designs, calculations, reports, specifications, and survey outputs.
  • Lead technical due diligence commissions, condition surveys, M&E audits, lifecycle assessments, and asset management projects.
  • Oversee feasibility studies, refurbishment projects, decarbonisation initiatives, and new-build developments.
  • Champion innovation, sustainability, and ESG-focused engineering solutions including BREEAM, MEES, NABERS, and Net Zero strategies.
  • Support and mentor engineers across the business, driving technical excellence and professional development.
  • Contribute to recruitment, succession planning, and talent development within the Engineering Consultancy team.
  • Represent the business at industry events, networking opportunities, and client engagement activities.
  • Undertake regular client meetings and site visits across the UK, with occasional travel across Europe.
  • Support the wider leadership team in delivering business objectives, operational improvements, and strategic initiatives.
  • Carry out any other duties commensurate with the seniority and scope of the role.

Qualifications

  • Significant experience within Mechanical Building Services Engineering Consultancy, ideally gained within the commercial property sector.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading and delivering complex consultancy projects and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong technical design background combined with experience in asset management, technical due diligence, or surveying.
  • Demonstrable experience managing client relationships and securing repeat business opportunities.
  • Strong commercial acumen with experience contributing to business development, fee generation, and project profitability.
  • Extensive experience using industry-standard engineering design and analysis software.
  • Comprehensive understanding of current legislation, regulations, and industry best practice relating to building services engineering.
  • Experience delivering sustainability and ESG-focused initiatives including BREEAM, NABERS, MEES, energy efficiency, and decarbonisation strategies.
  • Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) status, or demonstrable progression towards Chartered status, strongly preferred.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Ability to influence at all levels and build strong relationships both internally and externally.
  • Commercially aware, proactive, and results-driven.
  • Resilient, adaptable, and capable of managing multiple priorities within a dynamic environment.
  • Confident networker with the ability to represent the business professionally in the marketplace.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel as required.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
