Engineer (Development Liaison)

Transport Development Manager – Highways Engineering Team

Regenerating and developing the county’s infrastructure is critical in maintaining our environment—this is where people live, work, and visit. This role helps drive the success of key developments in our stunning rural landscape, home to the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Transport Development Management (or similar) advice to planning authorities across a range of applications—applicable in urban and rural contexts
  • Engage with developers, councillors, and the public to streamline and support development objectives
  • Operate within highway/road planning frameworks, evaluating challenges while following established procedures
  • Maintain strong cross-team collaboration, alongside clear, adaptive communication and customer-focused service

Requirements

  • \varepsilonqivalent experience offering Transport Development Management (or comparable senior transport planning advice)
  • Rural and urban planning expertise in various development environments
  • Proven problem-solving ability with a strong grasp of design, construction standards, procedures and techniques
  • Excellent teamwork, communication, and service orientation
  • Preferable: Minimum degree level in civil engineering or a related discipline
  • Professional membership (e.g., CIHT, ICE, RTPI) evidence commitment to ongoing professional growth

Your hands-on experience post-qualification is highly valued.
