About Us

Openr is transforming how the hospitality industry manages and shares data. By centralising recipe, product, and pricing information, we help hospitality businesses seamlessly connect to platforms like Deliveroo and Just Eat, as well as EPOS and other customer touchpoints.

We've recently closed a significant funding round and are backed by Azzurri Group, one of the UK's most successful hospitality investment platforms. With strong market traction, we're growing our engineering team.

About the Role

We're looking for a mid-level engineer to join our small, collaborative engineering team. This is a hands-on role where you'll be writing code every day, contributing to real product decisions, and growing your skills alongside experienced engineers who are invested in your development.

You'll work across the full stack. You don't need to have done it all. What matters is that you're curious, care about your craft, and want to keep getting better.

What You'll Be Working With

Our stack includes:

  • Frontend: TypeScript, React, and React Query
  • Backend: AWS Lambda, Node.js, and PostgreSQL
  • Infrastructure: AWS cloud

You don't need experience with every part of this. We care more about how you think and learn than whether you've used a specific tool before.

What You'll Be Doing

Building and Delivering

  • Contribute to building and shipping features
  • Help keep our codebase healthy
  • Develop understanding of balancing speed with quality
  • Over time, identify bottlenecks, improve reliability, and shape how we build things

Growing and Collaborating

  • Work closely with more experienced engineers
  • Support through code reviews, pairing, and open technical conversation
  • Contribute your own perspective on approaching problems as you grow

Getting Involved Beyond the Code

We're a small team, so everyone has a voice. You'll:

  • Get exposure to product thinking and technical planning
  • Engage in conversations with non-technical colleagues
  • Prepare for career growth in any direction

What We're Looking For

Likely Qualifications

  • Some commercial experience writing TypeScript or JavaScript (backend or full-stack)
  • A working understanding of SQL and relational databases
  • Comfort working with version control and collaborative development workflows
  • An interest in systems, APIs, services, and data flow

Nice-to-Have (but not essential)

  • Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS or similar)
  • Familiarity with serverless or event-driven patterns
  • Some exposure to React or frontend development
  • An interest in SaaS or integration-heavy platforms

We're more interested in how you approach problems than how many years you’ve been doing it.

What We Offer

Workplace Culture

  • Flexible hybrid working: Two days a week in our Central London office in Farringdon
  • No out-of-hours support
  • Real influence: Direct input into architectural decisions and the technical direction of our growing SaaS platform
  • A learning culture: Dedicated time and support for developing new skills using cloud-native technologies
  • A collaborative team: Enjoy working together and supporting each other’s growth

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
