Motorsport Design Engineer – Motorsport & Advanced Engineering

An opportunity has arisen for a Motorsport Design Engineer to join the Motorsport & Advanced Engineering department.


About The Role

The Motorsport & Advanced Engineering team supports high-performance projects requiring a Design Engineer with expertise in mechanical design, particularly in electrification. These projects showcase innovation across motorsport, defence, and other high-tech applications.

Your focus will be on lightweight, high-performance, and system efficiency.


Responsibilities

As a Motorsport Design Engineer, your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Performing engineering calculations for components and systems
  • 3D CAD design of components and assemblies
    • Complying with company CAD assembly structures and Bill of Materials (BoM)
  • Producing and releasing engineering drawings
  • Designing and developing rig and test equipment
  • Conducting data analysis for design development, troubleshooting, and fault resolution
  • Supporting data transfer to customers and suppliers
  • Documenting build specifications and work instructions
  • Optimising designs for performance, efficiency, and total cost
  • Occasional customer liaising and event participation
  • Writing build instructions and Safe Systems of Work (SSOW) plans
  • Following Design Verification Plans (DVP)
  • Improving engineering processes, systems, and business workflows
  • Collaborating with the supply chain to enhance manufacturability and quality

Requirements & Eligibility

This role is open to graduate engineers and professionals with up to 5 years of relevant experience.

You will ideally have:

  • Mechanical design experience in high-performance sectors such as motorsport, defence, or aerospace
  • Preferred exposure to HV (high-voltage) systems, energy storage, and low-volume production capabilities
  • Proficient in CAD (preferably Siemens NX) and PLM (preferably Siemens Teamcenter)
  • Capable of achieving and maintaining a Base Line Personnel Security Clearance (BPSS)
  • Availability for travel outside the UK
