Network Design Engineer – Hybrid (with travel to Warwick when required)

About the Role

Right across infrastructure, the focus lies on maintaining, renewing, and reimagining key services. This role offers opportunities for professional growth and development, while fostering a safety-first, client- and customer-centric culture. This position seeks an experienced Network Engineer to creatively develop new products or services, designing scalable solutions from concept through to installation. The role involves:

  • Technical planning, cost forecasting, and regulatory compliance
  • Quality control and oversight of development and deployment
  • Collaborating with teams to implement reliable networks, infrastructure, and systems

Key Deliverables

  • Design and deliver network architectures for Digital Data and Telecommunications (DDaT)
  • Produce detailed documentation including:
    • Network design schematics
    • Topology diagrams
    • Leadership infrastructure and bill-of-materials
  • Develop TENE designs and understand DDaT processes and tools
  • Complete cost analysis forecasts, technical reports, and regulatory compliance documentation
  • Ensure quality testing of new products, systems, or infrastructure

Responsibilities

  • Conduct product/system testing before deployment
  • Ensure projects meet budgets and timelines
  • Maintain and expand skills through professional development
  • Receive moderate direction in project tasks, with potential for leadership
  • Follow prescribed processes to resolve complex engineering issues
  • Work with MPLS/IP networks including network rail services for signalling, electrification, and telecommunications
  • Uphold QEHS (Quality, Environment, Health & Safety) standards and Telent values
  • Engage transparently with stakeholders, both internal and external

Qualifications & Skill Requirements

  • Qualification: Minimum HND/BEng Degree (or equivalent experience) in a relevant engineering discipline
  • Certifications: Ability to obtain SC clearance; credentials aligned with MPLS/IP networks, Routing, Network Engineering, and telecommunications
  • Technical Proficiency: Computer literacy in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Visio), DDaT and TENE design processes
  • Regulatory Awareness: Knowledge of applicable quality and compliance standards
  • Soft Skills:
    • Excellent communication (written and verbal)
    • Structured analytical reasoning
    • Collaboration with cross-functional teams
    • Stakeholder-focused problem-solving
