Located in Weymouth, Dorchester, Wareham or Bournemouth (ideally DT1 or BH1 postcode)

About the Role

We are recruiting for an Engineer Surveyor to join a well-established nationwide business specialising in inspections and periodic examinations of lifting equipment and pressure systems across customer sites.

This is an ideal opportunity for mechanically-biased engineers who enjoy visiting diverse customer sites and developing specialist technical expertise in the inspection and engineering surveying sector. The company has a strong history of employing ex-military engineers, particularly from the Royal Navy, British Army, and Royal Air Force.

The Core Responsibilities

Your role will involve:

  • Conducting inspections and periodic examinations of lifting equipment and pressure systems across various customer sites
  • Assessing a mixed portfolio ranging from small independent businesses to large commercial organisations
  • Travelling to sites, performing detailed engineering inspections, and compiling technical reports with findings and recommendations
  • Working in compliance with key industry regulations, including:
    • LOLER
    • PUWER
    • PSSR
    • COSHH
  • Overnight stays occur approx. twice per month, with full expenses covered

Minimum Requirements

To be considered for this role, you should have:

  • A strong mechanical engineering background
  • A Level 3 engineering qualification (or equivalent)
  • Experience working with pressure vessels and lifting equipment -Professional knowledge of:
    • LOLER
    • PUWER
    • PSSR
    • COSHH regulations
  • Strong communication and customer-facing skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage your own workload
  • Willingness to learn new engineering disciplines
  • Ability to travel regionally and accommodate occasional overnight stays
  • A full UK driving licence

Note: Applications are welcome from both commercial and ex-military candidates. Engineers leaving the Royal Navy, British Army, or Royal Air Force with a strong mechanical engineering background are particularly encouraged to apply.
