Role Title: Engineer (Day Shift)

Salary: Competitive Location: Huntingdon Shift: 4 on, 4 off days

About the Role

Hilton Foods are seeking an Engineer to report to the Engineer Manager. You will provide engineering support across all factory areas, ensuring that breakdowns, preventative maintenance (PPM), and improvement work meet required standards.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Diagnosing all faults and carrying out remedial work to the required standard.
  • Proposing equipment improvements to enhance reliability and efficiency.
  • Attending PIT meetings on production lines to increase Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) in collaboration with production teams.
  • Dismantling and reassembling production equipment in a timely manner.
  • Completing job report sheets and breakdown reports for all work undertaken.
  • Ensuring parts are correctly booked through the stores department.
  • Assisting with installation and commissioning of new equipment.
  • Contributing to special projects as required.
  • Working alongside contractors where necessary.
  • Adhering to hygiene, health, and safety protocols.
  • Undertaking fabrication work across the business.
  • Maintaining and developing a culture of continuous improvement within the factory.
  • Supporting the company’s risk management strategy.

Requirements

To excel in this role, we require:

  • A recognised apprenticeship to ONC/HNC level or an equivalent, with a proven track record in electrical controls (e.g., PLCs, contactors, relays, safety circuits).
  • Mechanical and electrical skills (dual expertise preferred but not strictly required).
  • Strong electrical knowledge.
  • Experience working in a food production environment (essential).
  • The ability to work self-motivated while collaborating effectively within a team.
