About the Role
As the Engineering & Technical Standards Manager, you will be responsible for creating Operational Engineering Standards, Processes and ways of working by collaborating with stakeholders across Verne. These standards need to meet our customer and business expectations while enabling scalable, consistent operations.
This is a hands-on role with an objective to:
- Support the site teams directly
- Establish a framework for technical and engineering standards, processes, and ways of working
- Ensure a compliant, consistent, and customer-focused operational team across Verne
Responsibilities
Stakeholder Engagement
- Engage with all stakeholders within Operations and other departments across Verne
- Gather input to enable process and standards development, roll-out, review, and improvement
- Incorporate customer feedback as required
Technical & Engineering Standards & Process Development
- Develop and document standards, processes, and ways of working that are fit for purpose and aligned with Verne’s and customers’ expectations, particularly for hyperscalers
- Create an Operational Handbook to centralise all operational standards and processes and ensure they are:
- Easily accessible
- Navigable by all organisational levels

Implementation of Technical & Engineering Standards
- After defining and documenting standards, ensure:
- All teams are informed
- Relevant training is provided
- Scenario-based exercises are implemented where needed
- Maintain a hands-on approach to ensure compliance and full understanding
Review, Improvement, and Upkeep of Standards & Processes
- Review and amend standards at least annually or when necessary
- Conduct regular quality checks to ensure compliance
- Track actions until completion and maintain records

Requirements
Education & Experience
- Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or similar)
- Datacentre experience with in-depth knowledge of:
- Datacentre operations
- Standards, processes, and ways of working
- Strong track record of stakeholder influence
- Tech-savvy with deep expertise in:
- Data centre power, cooling, and security systems
- CMMS platforms
Technical Proficiency & Skills
- Problem-solving, decision-making, and strategic thinking
- Communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
- Project management and organisational expertise
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-demand environment
