Engineering Apprentice

What the Role Involves

As an Engineering Apprentice, you’ll work alongside experienced engineers to ensure our highly automated production lines operate safely, efficiently, and reliably.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Maintaining, repairing, fault-finding, and improving machinery and equipment across:

    • Mechanical systems
    • Electrical systems
    • Automation and controls
    • Sensors
    • Data collection systems
  • Supporting planned preventative maintenance activities

  • Conducting equipment inspections

  • Performing breakdown repairs

  • Participating in continuous improvement projects

You’ll gain practical, hands-on experience in a real-world manufacturing setting while developing technical knowledge and skills.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with production teams to understand:
    • How engineering performance impacts factory output, product quality, and customer service
  • Actively contribute to Health & Safety, Food Safety, hygiene, and housekeeping standards

Systems & Documentation

  • Learn to use engineering systems effectively
  • Develop proficiency in handling technical documentation and maintenance records

This is a fast-paced, varied role where no two days are the same. Key activities include:

  • Assisting in production breakdowns
  • Supporting the installation of new equipment
  • Evaluating and improving existing processes

Throughout your apprenticeship, you’ll receive:

Key Personal Traits & Qualifications

Essential

  • Passion for engineering and commitment to a long-term career in the industry
  • Motivated, enthusiastic, and eager to learn continuously
  • Strong interest in mechanical/electrical fields or automation/manufacturing technology
  • Sound understanding of Maths & Science and ability to apply logical problem-solving skills
  • Confidence using computers and ability to quickly learn new systems & technology
  • Proactive, curious, and comfortable asking questions to expand knowledge
