Job Overview

We are recruiting one Apprentice which will be based in Ysbyty Gwynedd, Bangor.

What are the entry requirements?

You will need to have 5 GCSE’s including Welsh/English and Maths at A*-C, and DT/science A*-C is desirable.

You must be motivated and have a passion for engineering.

You must have lived in the UK/EEA for the last three years.

The Estates Team

The Estates Team support all areas of the Health Board. Estates services staff look after NHS buildings and the grounds around them, so they are a safe and pleasant environment for our staff and patients. The Apprentice Programme is an exciting opportunity that will enable you to train to become a valued member of the Estates Team through work-based learning.

These roles are subject to Annex 21 of the NHS terms and Conditions. What you will earn will increase as you progress through your Apprenticeship. Below is the estimated gross earning;

  • Sept 2026 – Sept 2027 60% of Band 4 (top of scale)
  • Sept 2027 – Sept 2028 65%
  • Sept 2028 - Sept 2029 70%

  • A comprehensive induction which will prepare you for your placements within the Health Board.
  • You will be supported by a workplace mentor.
  • You will have the equivalent of a day a week ‘off-the-job training’ to develop your learning.
  • You will have a mentor from the college.
  • You will work towards vocational qualifications, building the levels as you grow in confidence and experience.

What qualifications will I achieve?

  • Level 3 Apprenticeship with:
    • Level 3 diploma in Engineering
    • Level 3 in Multiskilled Engineering
    • Level 2 E skills Digital Literacy

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
