A Snapshot of Your Day

Imagine leading the charge in securing new business for our Substation Upgrades team as an Engineering Bid Project Manager. Your day will be filled with dynamic challenges as you drive the pre-award phase for complex technical projects across the UK.

You’ll lead the bid process from start to finish, ensuring each proposal is competitive, technically sound, and commercially viable. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop innovative solutions and manage risks, all while playing a pivotal role in our business growth. Your expertise in bid management and project execution will be key to winning new engineering business and expanding our impact in the energy sector.

This role is based in either Newcastle upon Tyne or Leeds and you must have full permanent UK right to work to be considered.

How You’ll Make An Impact

  • Lead the entire bid process for substation upgrade projects, from opportunity assessment to client negotiation.
  • Develop comprehensive bid schedules and coordinate inputs from engineering, sales, finance, and legal teams.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to define project scope and develop technical and commercial solutions.
  • Manage bid budgets, cost estimation, and pricing strategies in partnership with the commercial team.
  • Act as the primary contact for bid activities, managing communication and risk mitigation strategies.

What You Bring

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Project Management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in project management within the engineering, energy, or utilities sector.
  • Demonstrable expertise in managing complex bids and tenders for technical projects.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) and Association for Project Management (APM) qualifications.
  • Strong skills in bid management, financial acumen, and stakeholder communication.
