Position: Engineering Capability Lead

Reference: TS024

Location: Warrington

Arrangement: Permanent or Contract

Work arrangement: Hybrid, 3 days in the office and 2 days working from home.

BPSS clearance will be required at basic level. Prior clearance will not be transferable.

Role Description

Reporting to the Head of Future Engineering Capability, the Engineering Capability Lead will assist in developing the Engineering and Technical Capability across Integrated Project Team. The Engineering Capability Lead will focus on the near-term (approx. 12-18mo horizon) requirements of the programme, especially the procurement and mobilisation planning for the Deliver Partner contract. They will be responsible for developing and implementing plans to ensure the DP integrates fully with the other capabilities across the delivery landscape, and for understanding the impact on the near-term capability requirements of the business. Supporting the Head of Future Engineering Capability, the Engineering Capability Lead will also be responsible for determining and implementing activities that deliver the near-term demonstration of competence across the Technical Team (taken to be the Concept Design Phase), in support of Nuclear Site License activities and the journey towards ISO9001 accreditation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Developing & implementing the plans/activities required to deliver technical capability within the IPT’s Technical Team, with a 12-18mo planning horizon.
  • Providing technical and engineering input to the Delivery Partner procurement, including plans for its mobilisation, capability demonstration etc, such that the DP integrates sully and appropriately with the “this client” IPT.
  • Working closely with the other engineering leads to identify the technical requirements of the DP.
  • Collaborating with other programme functions to represent the engineering and technical interest in procurement, commercial and organisational design activities.

This role is not identified as likely to be included in a future LC36 Nuclear Baseline because it does not have the potential to impact Safety/Security/Nuclear Safeguards/Environmental Management/Long Lead Items.

Knowledge, Skills And Experience Required

  • Significant experience working and leading in a highly regulated industry on complex projects
  • A clear ability to develop technical strategy and implement tactical solutions
  • An understanding of technical concepts, principles, and terminology relevant to the nuclear industry
  • Demonstrate familiarity with nuclear industry regulations, standards, and technical documentation best practices
  • Good writing and editing skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical information in a clear, accurate, and accessible manner
  • Good attention to detail and commitment to producing error-free documentation that meets industry standards
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and influencing skills to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Science or a Related field, or equivalent experience
  • Chartered Member of a relevant technical institution
  • Must be able to obtain UK Security Clearance
