Engineering Compliance Manager

Engineering Compliance Manager – Poole, Dorset

Location: Poole, Dorset Salary: Competitive + Comprehensive Benefits

An established food manufacturing business is seeking an experienced Engineering Compliance Manager to join its engineering leadership team at a busy production site in Poole.


The Opportunity

Reporting to the Site Engineering Manager, the Engineering Compliance Manager will take ownership of statutory engineering compliance, contractor management, and engineering governance in a fast-paced FMCG environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all statutory engineering compliance activities, including inspections, audits, and regulatory requirements (ensuring completion on time and in full accuracy).
  • Work collaboratively with Engineering and Operations teams to manage compliance systems, coordinate contractor activities, and drive improvements in engineering processes.
  • Provide leadership to the Contractor Supervisor and Stores Coordinator, ensuring safe, efficient contractor operations while optimising engineering stores for maximum equipment uptime.
  • Analyse engineering data and compliance metrics to identify process improvements, reduce risk, and enhance overall site compliance.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders across the business, including reviewing technical documentation (e.g., RAMS), issuing permits to work, and fostering a proactive safety and compliance culture.

About the Candidate

The ideal candidate will have:

Core Experience & Qualifications

  • Proven expertise in FMCG, manufacturing, or highly regulated industrial environments (compliance-focused).
  • A recognised engineering qualification (essential).
  • Strong understanding of statutory regulations, including:
    • PSSR (Plant and Systems Regulation)
    • LOLER (Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations)
    • LEV (Local Exhaust Ventilation)
  • Experience with CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management System) or compliance management platforms. -NEBOSH General Certificate or IOSH Managing Safely qualifications would be advantageous.

Key Skills & Attributes

  • Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, and capacity to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Confidence in reviewing technical documentation (e.g., Risk Assessments, Method Statements).
  • Commitment to driving a proactive safety and compliance culture.
