Job Description
Lead the delivery of complex engineering programmes supporting advanced defence systems and technologies. Join ALTEN Ltd as an Engineering Delivery Manager, where you’ll take ownership of multidisciplinary engineering activities, driving delivery across the full lifecycle from concept through to validation and acceptance.
You’ll act as the focal point for engineering leadership, ensuring solutions are delivered on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards, while working closely with customers, partners and internal teams in a highly regulated environment.
Location: Belfast
On-site: On Site presence is required.
Seniority: Manager / Principal Level
Security Clearance: Candidates must be willing and eligible to obtain SC clearance.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and lead the engineering strategy, planning and delivery across the full project lifecycle
- Provide technical leadership to multidisciplinary engineering teams, ensuring alignment to time, cost and quality objectives
- Oversee requirements, integration, verification and validation activities to ensure robust, low-risk delivery
- Manage engineering governance including design reviews, certification and technical approvals
- Coordinate engineering activities across internal teams, suppliers and partners, resolving risks and technical challenges
- Support programme leadership with risk, opportunity and stakeholder management throughout delivery

Qualifications
Required Skills
- Proven experience in engineering delivery or project leadership within defence, aerospace or safety-critical environments
- Strong background managing multidisciplinary engineering teams and complex system development
- Experience delivering solutions across the full systems or engineering lifecycle (requirements to V&V)
- Ability to manage technical risk, cost and schedule within structured programme environments
- Strong stakeholder management skills across customers, suppliers and internal teams

- Collaborative approach with the ability to influence and align teams

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, or relevant technical military background with equivalent experience.
Desirable Skills
- Experience defining engineering strategy, WBS and delivery frameworks
- Knowledge of systems engineering principles and governance processes
- Experience working with international teams, partners or customers
- Background in complex system integration or large-scale programmes
- Familiarity with regulated or safety-critical standards and environments
