Engineering Director – Medical Technology

Cambridge - Hybrid Working
£120,000–£140,000

We are partnering with an innovative medical technology company based in Cambridge developing advanced healthcare systems for next-generation products. Following continued growth, significant investment, and an expanding product roadmap, the business is now looking to appoint an Engineering Director to lead its multidisciplinary engineering function and drive the delivery of complex, market-leading technologies.

This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced engineering leader who enjoys shaping technical strategy while building and developing high-performing teams. Reporting directly to the Founder, you will oversee multiple engineering disciplines, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards, whilst fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.

The role is based in Cambridge and requires office working of 3-4 days a week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop multidisciplinary engineering teams across Embedded Software, Electronics, Mechanical, Systems and Test Engineering.
  • Define and implement the engineering strategy aligned with business objectives and product roadmap.
  • Provide technical leadership across multiple concurrent development programmes from concept through to manufacture.
  • Drive engineering excellence, ensuring robust development processes, quality standards and best practices are adopted across the organisation.
  • Work closely with Product Management, Manufacturing, Regulatory and Commercial teams to ensure successful product delivery.
  • Manage engineering budgets, resource planning and recruitment to support continued business growth.
  • Mentor and develop engineering managers and technical leaders, creating clear succession and career development plans.
  • Support customer engagements and represent the engineering function with key stakeholders where required.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
