About us

UCL has identified sustainability as one of its core values and is striving to embed sustainability across all its operations and activities (including teaching and research). In 2019, UCL launched one of the most ambitious Sustainability strategies in the higher education sector and is aiming to use this to reinforce our position as a world-leader in addressing sustainability challenges.

A key commitment within the strategy is for UCL to reduce campus energy demand by 20% by 2030. This role will work with the Sustainability team to identify and deliver reductions in energy use.

You will be joining a dynamic and fun team committed to making UCL a more sustainable place. We have an open and collaborative team culture; welcoming new ideas and ways of working.

About the role

As the Engineering Energy Reduction Manager, you will lead the development and delivery of strategic and operational initiatives to reduce energy consumption, carbon emissions and utility costs across UCL's estate. You will be responsible for enabling a 20% energy reduction across UCL's activities by 2030 by:

  • Proactively identifying opportunities throughout the UCL's building portfolio to reduce energy demand through changes to engineering systems.
  • Leading on the delivery of energy efficiency projects.
  • Providing technical support and advice to ensure capital works are delivered to the highest levels of energy efficiency.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
