Engineering Geologist

Location: Leeds

Salary: GBP30,000 - GBP40,000

A well-established multidisciplinary engineering consultancy is looking to add an Engineering Geologist to its growing Leeds office. With decades of experience delivering geotechnical, geoenvironmental, and civil engineering solutions, the business has built a strong reputation for technical excellence and long-term client relationships.

Working across sectors including residential, commercial, industrial, education, healthcare, and infrastructure, this is an excellent opportunity to join a collaborative team where you'll work on a diverse range of projects while benefiting from structured training and genuine career progression.

The Role

You'll play a key role in delivering ground investigation projects from initial site works through to reporting. The position offers a varied mix of site supervision and office-based technical work, giving you exposure to projects of varying size and complexity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervising ground investigation works including rotary drilling, cable percussion, window sampling, and trial pitting.
  • Logging soil and rock in accordance with BS EN ISO 14688 and BS EN ISO 14689.
  • Scheduling and managing soil, rock, and groundwater samples for laboratory testing.
  • Recording accurate site information and maintaining high-quality field records.
  • Overseeing subcontractors and ensuring works are completed safely, efficiently, and to programme.
  • Preparing factual ground investigation reports.
  • Interpreting ground conditions and assisting with geotechnical assessments.
  • Liaising with clients, contractors, and the wider project team.
  • Ensuring all works are carried out in accordance with health and safety legislation and company procedures.

Requirements

  • Degree in Engineering Geology, Geology, Earth Sciences, or a related discipline.
  • Previous experience working on ground investigation projects.
  • Knowledge of soil and rock logging to current industry standards.
  • Strong communication and report writing skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Full UK driving licence.
