The Opportunity
Join our Engineering Team for a 12-month summer placement—an exciting development opportunity right here at BSC Filters, York, UK!
We’re offering a challenging and unique role to support state-of-the-art microwave electronics projects. You’ll work alongside experienced engineers, refining advanced RF designs while simultaneously expanding your technical skills in a vibrant, cross-functional environment.

Key Responsibilities
For this seasonal placement, you’ll focus on delivering a highly functional full-frequency-receiver, namely:

Design and Simulate a Thin-Film High-Degree Microwave Filter and demonstrate theoretical proof-of-concept operating as a frequency discriminator

Design and Prototype Single Diode Phase-Detector Circuits

Assemble Thin-Film RF Proof-of-Concept Single Channel Receiver Module

Design & Implement ADC-based Carrier Acquisition System, integrating all key RF components

Complete End-to-End Testing to demonstrate full receiver performance
Every stage of the project will involve active contribution, with challenges that will take your current skills to the next level, supported by our engineers, learning, designing, troubleshooting, and honing your ability to conscript theory into reality.
Minimum Requirements & Eligibility
To apply for this summer placement, you must:
Education & Background
- Currently studying Electronics, Communications, or a related engineering degree at a UK university
- Excellence in understanding and applying principles of RF processing, component behavior, and signal chain design

- Experience working independently and in teams—proven by successful project completions
- Skills in technical research and gathering findings from reputable sources
- Abilities to write, structure and present reports and design documentation

Proven Attitudes & Soft Skills
- Inquisitiveness—enjoy tackling problems head-on while seeking deeper knowledge
- Reviewing learned materials—while internalising and producing improvements

Compliance & Nationality Rules
- Must be a UK or NATO national
- Full right to work in the UK / EEA without restrictions
