Company Description

Well-funded insurtech platform

Job Description

Lead a product-focused squad building the front door of a modern insurance platform. This hands-on role involves shipping high-quality TypeScript across a serverless AWS stack while partnering with product management to define technical strategy. You will own delivery, operational excellence, and technical mentorship for a small, fast-moving team of three engineers.

Location

London, UK

Why this role is remarkable

  • Work on a modern, event-driven serverless architecture using TypeScript, AWS Lambda, and Terraform with 30-minute CI/CD pipelines.
  • High-growth phase backed by top-tier VCs, transforming how commercial motor insurance is priced through real-time vehicle telemetry and data science.
  • Hands-on leadership focus: prioritize technical excellence, delivery cadence, and engineer coaching without the overhead of traditional line management responsibilities.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What You Will Do

  • Partner with the Product Manager to translate business goals into technical scope and maintain a pragmatic, high-velocity delivery cadence.
  • Architect and build scalable microservices using a monorepo approach, trunk-based development, and automated type-safe contracts between services.
  • Mentor engineers within your squad, shaping internal developer experience, observability practices, and the standards for production-grade software delivery.

The ideal candidate

  • Strong background in TypeScript and experience building scalable systems within a cloud-native environment, specifically AWS serverless services.
  • Proven ability to lead technical delivery and make pragmatic trade-offs between speed and safety in a fast-paced product environment.
  • Passion for engineering excellence, including automated testing, infrastructure-as-code, and fostering a culture of ownership and high-quality software craftsmanship.
