About the Role
Data, Technology, and Analytics is WPP’s global data products and technology company. Its mission is to transform marketing by building the fastest, most connected data platform that bridges marketing strategy with scaled activation.
The Engineering Lead will oversee a product delivery team responsible for creating and refining modern digital platforms. This role merges hands-on engineering with technical leadership, guiding architecture, mentoring developers, and ensuring high-quality software delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and support a team of 4–5 software engineers, conducting regular 1:1s and fostering career growth.
- Provide technical leadership, guiding architecture and implementation decisions for scalable, maintainable, and high-quality systems.
- Remain hands-on with engineering—writing production code, reviewing pull requests, and participating in technical design discussions.
- Collaborate with delivery managers, design leads, principal engineers, and client stakeholders to scope, prioritise, and execute work within a product delivery team.
- Drive predictable, efficient delivery by planning effectively, removing blockers, and managing technical complexity.
- Promote strong engineering practices, including testing, CI/CD, code quality, observability, and documentation.
- Contribute to the design and evolution of distributed, composable web applications, leveraging modern architectural principles like MACH.
- Work cross-functionally with product, design, strategy, and DevOps teams to deliver accessible, secure, performant, and scalable applications.
- Share knowledge, improve practices, and influence broader engineering discipline development.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
