Engineering Lead (Operational) - £89,000 Per Annum + Car Allowance + Bonus - South London/Surrey
An international organisation is looking to appoint an experienced Engineering Lead to provide technical leadership across a complex EMEA portfolio of operational facilities. This is a senior leadership position suited to someone who enjoys shaping engineering strategy, influencing major investment decisions, and leading high-performing technical teams across multiple countries. You'll have the opportunity to drive engineering excellence, improve asset performance, and play a key role in the long-term development of a critical estate.
As the Engineering Lead, you'll provide strategic direction across a diverse engineering portfolio, ensuring technical consistency, operational resilience, and compliance with industry standards. Working alongside senior operational leaders and client stakeholders, you'll define engineering priorities, guide long-term asset investment, and provide technical oversight across a broad range of engineering disciplines. You'll also support the development of engineering capability, encourage best practice across regional teams, and help embed innovative maintenance approaches that improve reliability and asset performance.
This is a highly collaborative role where you'll work across engineering, operations, projects, energy, health & safety, and workplace teams to ensure engineering decisions support wider business objectives.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement the long-term engineering strategy across a multi-country portfolio.
- Provide leadership and guidance to regional Technical Leads and specialist engineering teams.
- Establish engineering standards, governance processes, and technical assurance across all locations.
- Lead the development of asset lifecycle and capital investment plans, balancing operational needs, risk, and future business requirements.
- Review asset performance, condition, and obsolescence to support informed investment decisions.
- Provide senior technical support during complex incidents, audits, and operational challenges.
- Drive engineering innovation, including predictive maintenance, asset optimisation, and reliability improvement initiatives.
- Monitor engineering performance, identify improvement opportunities, and support continuous operational excellence.
- Build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders, providing clear technical advice and strategic recommendations.
- Work closely with project, operational, commercial, and supplier teams to ensure successful delivery of engineering objectives.
About You
You'll be an experienced engineering leader with a track record of managing technical teams and developing engineering strategy within large, operational environments. You'll be comfortable working across multiple stakeholders, making strategic engineering decisions, and balancing technical, operational, and commercial priorities. Experience within sectors such as pharmaceuticals, life sciences, manufacturing, healthcare, data centres, or other critical infrastructure environments would be highly advantageous.
