Safran Actuation Systems UK is a leading design, manufacturing and support hub for actuation and flight-control solutions used across commercial, military and rotary aircraft platforms.

Your Role: Engineering Lead – Composites

As the Engineering Lead in our Composite Value Stream, you will:

  • Champion innovation in advanced composite manufacturing, bridging production, R&T and NPI phase.
  • Provide strategic, technical and organisational leadership to a multidisciplinary team specialising in aerospace composite tubular products.
  • Drive continuous improvement, implement cutting-edge R&T projects, and shape the technical roadmap as we expand.
  • Collaborate with customers, research institutions and industry partners to deliver solutions of global impact.
  • Support the site and engineering leadership through a period of technical and business transformation.

This role offers a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to cultivate Safran’s engineering strategy and aerodynamic composite advancement strategy—and shape its future.


What You’ll Bring

Essential Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering or related technical discipline.
  • Extensive experience in aerospace, defence or highly regulated manufacturing leadership roles.
  • Deep technical expertise in advanced composite technology and manufacturing.
  • Proven track record in managing engineering teams of 20+ people.
  • Experience supporting both production and NPI (New Product Introduction) programmes.

Desirable

  • Master’s degree in an engineering, materials science or aerospace-related field.
  • Knowledge of Filament Winding, Dry Lay-Up, Resin Transfer Moulding.
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) or equivalent professional registration.
  • Relevant leadership/management qualifications.
  • Direct experience with aerospace OEMs and Tier 1 customers.
  • Aerospace certification and qualification process understanding.
