Safran Actuation Systems UK designs, manufactures, and supports specialised actuation and flight-control solutions for commercial, military, and rotary aircraft platforms. Your Role

As Engineering Lead, you will:

Leadership & Strategy

  • Champion innovation and technical advancement across:
    • Current production
    • *Research & Technology (R&T)
    • New Product Introduction (NPI) activities*
  • Provide strategic, technical, and organisational direction for composite programs.
  • Oversee lifecycle management of advanced composite tubular products for aerospace applications.

Impact & Responsibilities

  • Drive continuous improvement and lead R&T projects collaboratively with:
    • External customers
    • Research institutions
    • Industry partners
  • Support transformational growth during a critical period for business expansion.
  • Work closely with site and engineering leadership to shape future capabilities.

What You’ll Bring

Essential:

  • Bachelor’s degree in:
    • Aerospace
    • Mechanical
    • Materials
    • Manufacturing Engineering
    • Or a related technical discipline
  • 10+ years of engineering leadership in:
    • Aerospace, defence, or highly regulated manufacturing
  • Deep expertise in advanced composite technology & manufacturing processes
  • Proof of managing engineering teams of 20+ people (both technical & operational)
  • Tangible success in supporting both:
    • Production programs
    • New development initiatives

Desirable (Not Essential):

  • Master’s or post-graduate qualification in engineering (Mechanical, Materials Science, Aerospace, Automotive).
  • Technical specialisation in:
    • Filament Winding
    • Dry Winding
    • Resin Transfer Moulding (RTM)
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) or equivalent professional registration
  • Formal leadership certifications
  • Experience with:
    • Aerospace or Automotive OEMs & Tier 1 customers
  • Understanding of aerospace certification & qualification processes
