We are looking for an Engineering Lead to join Anglian Water's Major Infrastructure Delivery team and play a pivotal role in delivering some of the largest and most strategically important infrastructure programmes in our history.

With Major Infrastructure Delivery responsible for delivering between £1.5bn and £2bn of investment during AMP8, this is a senior engineering leadership role providing technical authority, governance and assurance across major programmes ranging from £50m to £1bn.

Projects include major environmental and growth initiatives such as Coastal Waters, Cambridge Upgrade and Project Nectarine (Universal Studios).

Operating within a Design and Build delivery environment, you will act as the accountable engineering authority for one or more major programmes, leading engineering strategy, design assurance, risk management and technical governance through the full asset lifecycle.

This role is ideal for a highly experienced engineering leader who can combine technical excellence, strategic thinking and stakeholder leadership to deliver safe, sustainable and innovative solutions.

What you'll be doing:

  • Provide senior engineering leadership across major infrastructure programmes and projects
  • Act as the accountable engineering authority for scope definition, design assurance and engineering risk management
  • Lead multidisciplinary engineering teams across process, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, control, automation and civil engineering disciplines
  • Chair engineering governance forums including design reviews, technical approvals and assurance gateways
  • Drive technically robust, cost-effective and low-carbon engineering solutions
  • Lead technical assurance across optioneering, outline design, early contractor involvement, detailed design, construction, commissioning and handover
  • Ensure compliance with Anglian Water engineering standards, Construction Design and Management regulations, process safety requirements and operational expectations
  • Champion standardisation, value engineering, design efficiency and digital engineering across major projects
  • Develop engineering capability across Anglian Water, partners and suppliers, including mentoring graduates, apprentices and emerging technical talent
  • Provide senior technical leadership during incidents and emergency engineering responses where required

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
