Lead site maintenance
Preventative strategy KPI reporting to SMT/Board
Department: Maintenance
Base Location: Tewkesbury
Hours: 45 hours per week
Responsible to: Operations Director
Responsible for: Engineering (Maintenance) Team

The Role
As Engineering / Maintenance Manager, you’ll lead the maintenance function to keep our buildings, facilities, and production equipment operating safely, reliably, and efficiently. You’ll shape a preventative maintenance culture, reduce downtime, manage budgets and contractors, and act as the vital link between engineering, production teams, and senior leadership.

Key Responsibilities
- Preventative Maintenance: Plan and deliver robust PM programs to prevent unexpected breakdowns.
- Data & Improvement: Analyse maintenance data, identify trends, improve processes, and optimise performance. Report KPIs, departmental focus, and potential risks monthly to the Board/SMT.
- Team Leadership: Recruit, train, schedule, supervise, and motivate the maintenance team. Ensure the department is structured to support key operational functions.
- Maintenance Operations: Develop and implement maintenance strategies, procedures, and standards; oversee repairs, upkeep, and installations.
- Engagement: Work closely with site departments daily to drive performance, quality, and efficiency through continuous improvement.
- Safety & Compliance: Enforce safety policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
- Asset & Facility Upkeep: Maintain maximum equipment efficiency while protecting facility standards.
- Budget & Cost Control: Manage budgets, procurement, and costs while maintaining operational performance.
- Contractor Management: Control contractor performance, quality, budgets, and safety.
- Support & Mentoring: Coach and support engineers with fault-finding, upgrades, and best practice.
- Operational Resilience: Ensure resources are in place to react to out-of-hours breakdowns and minimise downtime.

What You’ll Bring
- Technical Proficiency: Strong electrical and mechanical understanding; strategic thinker with excellent organisation and time management.
- Problem Solving: Confident diagnosing root causes and implementing effective solutions under pressure.
- Leadership & People Skills: Ability to motivate a diverse team and build strong working relationships across departments.
- Project / Design Skills: Experience using design/visualisation tools such as AutoCAD.
- Administration: Competent in budgeting, procurement, reporting, and maintenance scheduling software.
- Flexibility: A flexible approach to working hours, supporting operational needs.
