Internally, you will work closely with Project Managers, Technical Directors, Systems Engineers, Discipline Leads, Project Controls and Assurance teams. Externally, you will engage with clients, regulators, contractors, supply chain partners and key stakeholders, providing engineering leadership throughout the project lifecycle.

This role offers the opportunity to shape the delivery of major infrastructure projects/programmes whilst contributing to the continued growth and development of Mott MacDonald's engineering capability.

Typical responsibilities (subject to project or client requirements)

  • Monitor engineering performance, facilitate project reviews, and ensure delivery against agreed time, cost, quality and regulatory objectives
  • Ensure appropriate design governance, assurance, review and approval processes are implemented and maintained
  • Identify, escalate and resolve technical issues, interfaces and delivery challenges, including those arising during construction, commissioning and handover
  • Work collaboratively with Project Managers to integrate technical, commercial and programme delivery requirements
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with clients, regulators, contractors, supply chain partners and key stakeholders, promoting collaborative project delivery
  • Plan, secure and lead multidisciplinary engineering resources, supporting capability development, succession planning, SQEP implementation and the growth of engineering teams
  • Drive continuous improvement in engineering delivery, design processes, digital engineering and information management practices
  • Champion sustainable engineering solutions and support environmental, planning and regulatory requirements throughout project delivery
  • Demonstrate visible leadership in health, safety, security, sustainability and continuous improvement across all engineering activities

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
