Job Context

The Engineering Manager is responsible for the management, development, delivery, and support of the Simpro suite of products. This is done by managing and directing the associated software development teams to deliver the strategies and achieve the goals set by the Directors and Executive Team.

What You’ll Do

Are you a people-first engineering leader who thrives on turning complex technical challenges into elegant, user-centric software?

As our Engineering Manager, you will oversee the management, development, delivery, and support of the BigChange suite of products. Leading and directing our high-performing software development teams—with a particular focus on expanding and elevating our mobile product ecosystem—you will translate high-level strategies from our Directors and Executive Team into impactful, real-world solutions.

What You’ll Do

People Leadership

  • Grow & Mentor: Run regular 1:1s, performance reviews, and merit cycles, providing honest, constructive feedback and creating tangible career pathways with individualized development plans.
  • Build the Culture: Lead hiring, onboarding, and retention efforts to foster an inclusive, collaborative environment where engineers feel motivated to stay and do their best work.
  • Be a Pillar of Support: Act as a trusted sounding board and support system for your team through both professional and personal challenges.

Technical & Mobile Leadership

  • Set the Direction: Establish and communicate a technical vision that aligns with business goals, making pragmatic architectural decisions across web and mobile platforms.
  • Champion Quality: Drive high standards for code quality, rigorous testing, and a proactive approach to managing technical debt with an AI-First lens.
  • Own the Platform: Ensure top-tier performance, security posture, and operational excellence across your area—including our native/cross-platform mobile applications.
  • Collaborate Broadly: Partner closely with Product Management, cross-functional engineering teams, and senior stakeholders to confidently shape and deliver product roadmaps.
  • Measure: You will measure your teams and yourself through industry standard DX Core 4 metrics. As you transform your teams to being AI-First, you will be able to see tangible productivity increases.

Delivery & Operations

  • Transform to an AI-First Team: Transform the team from traditional agile planning and delivery management to an AI-First SDLC – keeping quality exceptionally high and realizing massive efficiency gains.
  • Balance Capacity: Thoughtfully juggle new feature development (especially mobile-first initiatives) against essential platform maintenance.
  • Incident Response: Take the lead during technical incidents, coordinating swift, calm, and transparently communicated resolutions.
  • Vendor Management: Manage external partnerships and vendor relationships where required.

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven Leadership: Experience successfully managing, scaling, and transforming engineering teams in a fast-paced AI-led environment.
  • Mobile Development Expertise: Strong technical background in modern mobile application development (iOS, Android, React Native, or Flutter). You understand the unique nuances of mobile deployment, app store ecosystems, and mobile performance optimization.
  • Technical Respect: While you don’t need to write production code daily, your technical depth allows you to easily earn the respect of engineers and guide complex architectural discussions.
  • Debt Navigator: A proven track record of navigating legacy systems and technical debt without stalling the delivery of fresh, exciting features.
  • Bridge Builder: A clear, confident communicator who seamlessly translates complex technical challenges for business stakeholders, and vice versa.
  • Empathetic Leader: A genuinely people-first manager who takes team morale, psychological safety, and wellbeing seriously.
