Engineering Manager – Civils
Location: Trilogy Office, Motherwell
Business Unit: Energy
Morgan Sindall is recruiting an experienced Engineering Manager (Civils) to join our Energy business, based at our Trilogy office in Motherwell, supporting our Energy business unit, with a particular focus on the CMN3 and Harburn projects. This role will provide leadership across civil engineering activities at both pre-contract and delivery stages, ensuring engineering excellence, compliance and innovation across our infrastructure portfolio.
Role Overview
You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of internal and external engineering resources, ensuring civil engineering deliverables are completed safely, on time, to budget and in line with project and client requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all civil engineering activities at pre-contract and project delivery stages
- Manage internal and external engineering resources, ensuring effective deployment and performance
- Identify temporary works and other engineering requirements and allocate appropriate resources in collaboration with operations directors
- Provide a senior point of contact for customers and consulting engineers
- Ensure staff competency, training, records and compliance are fully maintained
- Implement and monitor health, safety, environmental and quality requirements across contracts
- Manage high-level relationships with consulting engineers, including design agreements and design management activities
- Support pre-contract activities, including bid reviews, tender input, interviews and presentations
- Drive innovation, continuous improvement, lessons learned and knowledge sharing across the Energy business
- Ensure full compliance with CDM Regulations and full understanding of Client, Principal Contractor and Principal Designer roles and responsibilities.
- Support mobilisation of new contracts, including HSEQ and engineering governance arrangements
- Provide engineering assurance support to joint ventures and alliances
- Carry out audits and produce reports for quality and environmental compliance
- Act as functional manager for planning resources within the Infrastructure business
- Represent Morgan Sindall on industry forums as agreed

Qualifications & Experience
- Degree qualified (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering or related discipline
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) or equivalent professional status (e.g. ICE)
- Significant senior-level experience delivering civil engineering design and construction in regulated sectors
- Strong experience within major project tender teams, including price and quality adjudicated bids
- Proven experience managing design processes in tender and live project environments
- Experience working in joint ventures, alliances or collaborative delivery models
- Strong understanding of commercial arrangements, procurement routes and contracts
- Experience working with ViewPoint and Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC)
