Engineering Manager (Hands off)
Up to £70,000

I’m currently partnered with a well-established organisation undergoing significant technology transformation and investment across their engineering function. They’re now looking for an Engineering Manager to lead and develop a high-performing engineering team, driving delivery across both change initiatives and live services. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys combining strong people leadership with technical oversight, helping shape engineering standards.
The Role You'll sit at the heart of the engineering organisation, leading a team of engineers while working closely with stakeholders, architecture, product teams and delivery partners. You'll be responsible for driving engineering excellence, ensuring high-quality delivery, and supporting the ongoing evolution of services across a complex technology landscape.
Key Responsibilities • Build and lead a talented engineering team, creating an environment where people can grow, perform at their best, and deliver meaningful results • Take ownership of engineering delivery across a portfolio of projects and services, ensuring work is prioritised effectively and aligned with wider business goals • Work closely with technology, product and business stakeholders to turn requirements into scalable, practical solutions • Provide technical leadership and guidance, helping teams navigate complex challenges and make informed engineering decisions • Manage relationships with external suppliers and partners, ensuring successful collaboration and consistent delivery standards

Skills & Experience Proven experience leading engineering teams, with a passion for developing people and building high-performing cultures • Strong background delivering technology solutions within complex enterprise or large-scale environments • Comfortable operating across both people leadership and technical oversight, with the ability to support engineers while maintaining a strategic view • Experience working closely with business and technical stakeholders, translating requirements into successful delivery outcomes • Strong understanding of software delivery, service management and engineering best practices • Ability to balance multiple priorities across projects, operational support and longer-term strategic initiatives
