gap technical are proud to be representing this global manufacturing business in their search for an Engineering Manager to work at their facility based near Sherborne.
Performance Objectives
The Engineering Manager is responsible for leading the engineering function, providing technical leadership across the complete manufacturing process from assembly through to product release. The successful candidate will lead the site engineering team whilst supporting continuous improvement, manufacturing excellence and technical problem solving. They will work closely with Production, Quality and the Head of Application Engineering to ensure engineering projects are delivered on time whilst improving Safety, Quality, Cost and Delivery performance.
As the senior engineering representative on site, the Engineering Manager will ensure robust manufacturing processes, support customer requirements and develop the engineering team to achieve world-class aerospace manufacturing standards.
- Provide technical leadership across all manufacturing processes.
- Support recruitment, training and succession planning within Engineering.
- Provide technical support to production to resolve manufacturing issues.
- Develop and improve manufacturing processes across the complete production route.
- Lead process capability improvements to improve quality, throughput and productivity.
- Lead Lean Manufacturing initiatives.
- Drive scrap reduction and process improvement projects.
- Conduct Root Cause Analysis and implement corrective actions.
- Monitor engineering KPIs and identify improvement opportunities.
- Resolve complex manufacturing and technical issues.
- Lead engineering projects from concept through implementation.
- Promote a safe working environment and ensure engineering activities comply with all relevant legislation and company standards.

Person Specification
- HNC/HND or Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing or Production Engineering (or equivalent).
- Engineering Apprenticeship or equivalent practical experience.
- Previous Engineering Manager, Manufacturing Manager, Lead Engineer or Senior Manufacturing Engineer experience.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing process development and continuous improvement.
- Experience leading engineering teams.
- Root Cause Analysis, 8D and structured problem-solving techniques.
- Excellent understanding of engineering drawings and manufacturing processes.
