Engineering Manager
Our client, a leading organisation within the energy sector, is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to join their team in Basingstoke. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the successful delivery of complex engineering projects, ensuring that project objectives are achieved safely, efficiently, and in line with quality and business requirements.
Key Responsibilities

Project Engineering & Delivery
- Develop and manage the Project Engineering Execution Plan (PEEP) throughout all project phases.
- Lead the engineering execution of projects, ensuring delivery against scope, schedule, budget, and quality requirements.
- Coordinate design, technical, and HSEQ reviews.
- Monitor engineering progress, workload forecasting, and project performance.
- Identify, assess, and manage project risks, ensuring effective mitigation strategies are implemented.
- Manage project changes and evaluate their impact on delivery.
- Oversee engineering interfaces and ensure effective communication between all parties.
- Consolidate project cost estimates and provide regular updates to management and stakeholders.
- Ensure effective close-out of projects, including technical documentation and final reporting.

Leadership & Team Management
- Lead and motivate multidisciplinary engineering project teams.
- Collaborate with department heads to define project resource requirements and staffing plans.
- Manage priorities, workloads, and resource allocation to ensure successful project execution.
- Promote collaboration across internal functions and external engineering service providers.
- Support a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.

Skills & Experience Required
- Proven experience managing engineering execution within complex project environments.
- Strong understanding of project management principles, including planning, scheduling, forecasting, cost control, risk management, and change management.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams across multiple locations.
- Knowledge of project lifecycles, including Feasibility, FEED, Detailed Design, and Execution phases.
- Experience managing outsourced engineering services and contractors.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Ability to work autonomously and make effective decisions within a fast-paced environment.
- Experience within the energy, oil & gas, industrial, engineering consultancy, or related sectors would be highly advantageous.
- Understanding of Owner's Engineering principles within major projects.
Qualifications
- Degree qualified in Engineering (BEng or equivalent).
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) status is desirable.
- Formal project management qualifications would be advantageous.
