About the Role

What You’ll Do

As a lead engineer, your role will focus on engineering excellence, safety, and continuous improvement in a 7-day operating environment. Key responsibilities include:

Strategic & Operational Leadership

  • Develop and execute long-term engineering strategy, CAPEX planning, and major projects
  • Manage the Electronic Maintenance System (HxGN EAM) and enforce robust Management of Change (MoC) processes
  • Lead and develop a multidisciplinary engineering team (Mechanical, Electrical, and Instrumentation disciplines)

Process Safety & Compliance

  • Drive safety performance through:
    • Root Cause Analysis for equipment failures
    • Incident reporting via AVA
    • HAZOP/LOPA/FMEA studies to assess risks
    • Training needs identification for enhanced reliability
  • Issue and manage work permits (confined spaces, working at height, excavations, isolations)
  • Oversee Asset Integrity Management to prevent major accidents via PSSR testing, design reviews, and maintenance protocols

Regulatory & Technical Expertise

  • Act as technical lead for COMAH 2015 Safety Report submission
  • Manage interactions with HSE & regulatory bodies during audits/inspections
  • Ensure compliance with ivoryty laws, including:
    • DSEAR (Dangerous Substances & Explosive Atmospheres)
    • PUWER (Providing and Using Work Equipment Safely)
    • LOLER (Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment)
    • SCE (Safety Critical Equipment) maintenance

What We’re Looking For

We need a highly qualified and experienced professional with:

  • Qualified Electrical or Mechanical Engineer certification
  • 10+ years of leadership experience in high-hazard industries (oil & gas, chemicals, energy, etc.)
  • Expertise in Process Safety Management (PSM), including:
    • HAZOP, LOPA, FMEA (with confidence in interpreting electrical & mechanical drawings)
  • COMAH & HSE compliance knowledge, with a track record in:
    • Regulatory engagement with the HSE
    • Managing Safety Critical Equipment
  • Proven expertise in:
    • Writing RAMS & safety procedures
    • Issuing work permits (confined spaces, height work, isolations)
    • Managing multidisciplinary teams & contractors in 24/7 operations
