About You
You’ll be joining as an Engineering Manager reporting to the Director of Engineering. You’ll be a part of a fast-growing business that is challenging the market and doing things differently.
As an Engineering Manager at ClearBank, you will focus on people, delivery, and operational management while occasionally writing and reviewing code. You will lead a team of engineers with a range of skill and experience. Your responsibilities will include driving hiring and interviewing, mentoring and guiding the career development of your direct reports. Reporting to the Director of Engineering and working closely with product partners to prioritise and scope work.

You will be
- Leading and managing engineering teams responsible for multiple projects
- Driving hiring and interviewing processes
- Mentoring and guiding the career development of direct reports by seeking challenging, impactful work
- Collaborating with product partners to prioritize and scope work
- Ensuring quality and testing standards are met
- Improving the team's security posture
- Foster a culture of clear, concise communication and active listening
- Facilitating daily Scrum meetings (daily standups), sprint planning meetings, and retrospective reviews keeping the team on track and managing obstacles that arise
- Managing 24/7 support when necessary and rapid reaction to issues
What We Are Looking For
- Someone who communicates team strategy and generates enthusiasm and support for strategic goals
- Strong technical skills in C#, Azure, and SQL. Experience with Azure Data Lake, Data Ingestion and Databricks are highly desirable.
- Proven track record of leading and managing engineering teams
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Strong understanding of business value and customer benefit
- Ability to articulate the customer benefit and understand the underlying problems the team is trying to solve
- Demonstrate ownership and accountability for team performance
- Manage ambiguity and uncertainty within the team
- Promote a culture of documentation and knowledge sharing
- Facilitate discussions and guide teams towards conclusions and decisions
- Advocate for process and policy improvements

Our Hiring Process And What You Can Expect
- Application: a member of our talent acquisition team will review your application against the key requirements for the role and let you know within two weeks whether you’re moving forward to the next stage;
- Screening: You’ll spend 30-45 minutes speaking to one of our recruiters learning more about the role and ClearBank, and we’ll get it know more about you, your experience and how your skills align with the role (this will be via phone or Teams video call). You can expect to hear back from us within seven days following this meeting (if things are taking longer than expected, we’ll let you know that too);
- First Interview: You’ll spend one hour with a member of our hiring team focusing on your skills, competencies and your ways of working at the same time we’ll give you time to ask more questions about the role, the team and learn more about the ClearBank culture. This will be via Teams.
- Second Interview: This will be a competency-based interview with one or more members of our team.
- Final Stage: You will have a final meeting with the Head of Department. This will be around 45-60 minutes.
