About the Role
We are seeking a Technical Engineering Manager to lead a team building and operating large-scale distributed systems. You'll take ownership of the Geo for Self-Managed Customers team, responsible for the Geo product end-to-end. This innovation sits between raw infrastructure replication and single-object transfer, serving as the critical foundation for disaster recovery strategies relied upon by our customers.
What You’ll Bring to the Team
- A proven track record of leading and owning large-scale distributed services, with deep technical expertise to drive architecture and technical strategy
- Strong experience ensuring operational excellence, having managed systems achieving four-nines (99.99%) SLOs, and maintaining reliability under pressure
- Proficiency in leveraging AI tools to enhance productivity, with lessons learned from both successful implementations and missteps
- A history of building and managing high-performing, accountable teams—including disciplined accountability and alignment initiatives
- Comfort directing complex projects, prioritizing effectively, and delivering outcomes without a dedicated Technical Program Manager
- Track record of effective leadership of distributed and remote teams with success

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the Geo product roadmap for Self-Managed customers, establishing clear direction in close collaboration with the Product Manager
- Hire and develop a high-performing engineering team (based in India, with future EMEA backend and full-stack hires to enhance timezone coordination)
- Own reliability, correctness, and performance of Geo replication—the critical foundation for disaster recovery in Self-Managed deployments
- Drive bug fixes, API extensions, and new features to the shared Geo codebase, while maintaining strong relationships with Geo Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) across Dedicated Migrations and Resilience teams
- Design and maintain robust processes, including runbooks, guardrails, and reviews, ensuring rigorous but flexible operations
- Ensure high-quality, timely responses to Geo-related escalations from Support and internal partners
- Define, track, and report on delivery and operational metrics, using insights to drive continuous improvements
- Participate in the Incident Management On-call rotation, alongside reliability engineers and development teams, to uphold Geo’s availability goals
