Engineering Manager

Location: Kings Lynn
Full-time ¦ Permanent

About the Role

We are looking for a driven and experienced Engineering Manager to lead our site engineering function and play a key role within the senior operations team.

You'll be responsible for ensuring plant reliability, delivering capital projects, and driving continuous improvement across engineering and site performance. This is a high-impact leadership role with real opportunity to influence operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the engineering team to deliver strong site performance
  • Ensure planned maintenance strategies maximise plant efficiency and minimise downtime
  • Manage engineering budgets and control costs in line with site objectives
  • Deliver capital projects on time and within budget, ensuring ROI
  • Drive continuous improvement across equipment, processes and energy usage
  • Maintain compliance with all Health & Safety, food safety and audit standards
  • Ensure effective spare parts management to support operational continuity
  • Work closely with production teams to optimise plant performance
  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure safe systems of work at all times
  • Support and develop team capability through training and performance management

Essential Criteria

  • Time-served Dual Skilled Engineer (Electrical & Mechanical)
  • Proven experience in a leadership/line management role
  • Strong engineering background within manufacturing (food industry preferred)
  • Excellent organisational, communication and team-building skills
  • Financial awareness with experience managing budgets
  • Strong problem-solving skills, including Root Cause Analysis
  • Knowledge of key safety systems (LOTO, Permit to Work, Working at Height, Confined Space)
  • Relevant qualifications (C&G/NVQ or equivalent)

Desirable

  • Experience within a cooked meats or food manufacturing environment
  • IOSH / NEBOSH
  • HACCP Level 3 / Food Safety Level 3/4
  • Knowledge of TACCP, Legionella, LOLER
  • Experience as Electrical or Asbestos Duty Holder
