Job Description

Overview

AtkinsRéalis is delivering some of the most challenging and technically complex nuclear programmes across the UK and internationally. As part of the continued growth of our Nuclear EMEA Major Projects business, we are seeking an Engineering Manager (Process Engineering) to lead the development and delivery of process engineering solutions across a portfolio of major nuclear projects.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a leading role in projects that support the future of clean energy, defence, decommissioning and fuel cycle programmes. You will work alongside multidisciplinary engineering teams, clients and project leaders to ensure process designs are safe, robust and fully integrated within wider project requirements.

Your role

  • Leading process engineering teams in the development and delivery of complex nuclear process systems and plant solutions.
  • Providing technical direction across process design activities, including plant layout, system integration, safety considerations and operational requirements.
  • Ensuring process engineering deliverables are aligned with project objectives, regulatory expectations and client requirements.
  • Driving collaboration across mechanical, civil, electrical, control and instrumentation disciplines to deliver integrated engineering solutions.
  • Supporting the identification and management of technical risks, design challenges and key engineering decisions throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Acting as a trusted advisor to clients and project stakeholders on process engineering matters.

About you

  • Degree qualified in Chemical, Process or a related Engineering discipline, with Chartered status or working towards Chartership.
  • Experience leading process engineering activities on complex projects within nuclear or other highly regulated industries.
  • Strong understanding of process design, system development and engineering integration.
  • Experience working within multidisciplinary project environments and managing interfaces across engineering disciplines.
  • A proven ability to balance technical, programme and stakeholder requirements in the delivery of major projects.
  • Experience within nuclear new build, decommissioning, waste management, defence or other complex process industries would be advantageous.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
