About The Role

The Asset Lifecycle Engineering Manager role at MAG (Airports Group) offers an exciting opportunity to influence the strategic management of critical infrastructure at East Midlands Airport. As a key member of the engineering team, you will lead the development and execution of asset management strategies that enhance asset performance, safety, and cost-efficiency. Your expertise will be pivotal in implementing modern asset management standards, optimizing maintenance processes, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. This position requires a proactive leader who can navigate a complex operational environment, ensuring that all assets—from runway systems to terminal facilities—are maintained to the highest standards throughout their lifecycle. The role is based at East Midlands Airport and offers a permanent contract, providing stability and the chance to make a tangible impact on the airport’s long-term operational success.

Qualifications

Successful candidates will possess a degree or HNC qualification in Engineering or a related field, with demonstrable experience in asset management, engineering, or maintenance within a complex operational setting. Familiarity with enterprise asset management systems such as Maximo or similar platforms is highly desirable. The ideal applicant will have strong analytical skills, enabling them to interpret data, identify trends, and inform strategic decision-making. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills are essential for building collaborative relationships across various departments. A forward-thinking mindset, coupled with experience in driving continuous improvement initiatives, will distinguish candidates. Knowledge of condition-based maintenance, predictive technologies, and modern asset management practices will be considered advantageous. Additionally, experience working within customer-focused environments and the ability to explain technical information clearly to diverse audiences are important attributes for success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive asset management strategies aligned with organizational objectives and industry best practices.
  • Lead the deployment of new asset management standards and ensure compliance across all operational areas.
  • Oversee the lifecycle management of airport assets, including planning, maintenance, refurbishment, and decommissioning activities.
  • Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, and operational teams to optimize asset reliability and performance.
  • Utilize data analytics to monitor asset health, identify trends, and develop predictive maintenance initiatives.
  • Drive continuous improvement projects aimed at enhancing operational efficiency, safety, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Manage relationships with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to ensure optimal asset performance and compliance.
  • Support the development of business cases for asset investments, upgrades, and technology adoption.
  • Ensure all asset management activities adhere to safety regulations, environmental standards, and company policies.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to team members, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
