JOB DESCRIPTION

Spire Healthcare, St Anthony's Hospital | Sutton | Engineering Manager | Permanent – Full Time

Spire St Anthony's Hospital is seeking a highly experienced and proactive Hospital Engineering Manager to lead our Estates and Engineering function. This is a key leadership role responsible for managing five heritage buildings, ensuring compliance, safety, and operational excellence across the hospital site.

Duties And Responsibilities:

Lead the delivery of safe, efficient, and compliant engineering services across the hospital site. Ensure best practice and consistency in all aspects of engineering and estates management. Oversee planned and reactive maintenance, ensuring buildings and equipment are maintained to the highest standards. Manage and develop a skilled team of site engineers and handymen, supporting their professional growth. Ensure full compliance with Spire’s Fire Policy and all regulatory requirements, including CQC and Public Health England standards. Act as the hospital’s Approved Person (AP) for key systems including medical gases, water safety, low voltage electrical services, decontamination equipment, and heating & ventilation.

Who We’re Looking For:

We are looking for a confident and experienced Engineering or Estates Lead with:

AP Qualification is desired. A relevant background in electrical, plumbing, or building services engineering. Previous experience of working within a hospital or healthcare environment is an essential requirement of this role. Strong management experience essential. Previous experience in managing a team. Proven ability to lead and develop teams. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. A proactive, flexible approach and commitment to continuous improvement.

Contract Type: Permanent – Full Time – 37.5 hours per week
