Engineering Manager

Engineering Manager – Manchester

  • Location: Onsite
  • Duration: 3 months initially (contract status, likely outside IR35)
  • Rate: £550–650 per day

About the Role

An Engineering Manager is required to lead and develop the Maintenance and Site Services teams, ensuring that all aspects of capital project delivery remain aligned with health and safety, people development, food safety, quality, customer service, and cost control.

You will provide strategic leadership across the Engineering function, shaping and delivering the site’s engineering strategy. Your focus will be on cultivating a culture of:

  • Continuous improvement
  • Collaboration
  • Proactive problem-solving

This critical role will drive operational excellence, improve asset reliability, and build a high-performing engineering team that supports the business’s strategic objectives.

  • Develop and deliver engineering plans that align with business and manufacturing operations, ensuring:
    • Plant, equipment, and facilities are maintained to highest standards
    • Compliance with relevant legislation and industry standards
  • Oversee contractor management, including:
    • Selection and induction processes
    • Permit to work systems
    • Ensuring safe, compliant delivery of work on-site
  • Manage engineering budgets and forecasts:
    • Identify cost-saving opportunities
    • Drive efficiency improvements
  • Monitor engineering KPIs, implementing performance improvements as required
  • Lead continuous improvement and profit improvement initiatives to enhance:
    • Efficiency
    • Quality
    • Food safety
  • Strengthen cross-functional relationships to:
    • Coordinate resources effectively
    • Improve collaboration
    • Maximise operational performance
  • Establish high engineering standards by:
    • Setting clear expectations
    • Ensuring quality delivery
    • Fostering internal customer satisfaction
    • Promoting continuous improvement
  • Foster a strong HSE (Health, Safety, Environmental) culture by:
    • Ensuring compliance with company policy
    • Enforcing safe systems of work
    • Upholding legislation and regulations
  • Drive environmental sustainability and continuous improvement across the operation
