About the Role

As an Engineering Materials Co-ordinator at Burmeister & Wain Scandinavian Contractor (BWSC), you’ll play a crucial role in managing critical raw materials, engineering components, and maintenance processes. This is an exciting chance to contribute to Ever Better Energy—ensuring our sites operate efficiently while supporting sustainability goals.

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, your primary task is to ensure smooth logistics of materials and components while supporting engineering, operational, and maintenance teams.


Key Responsibilities

Your role will involve:

  • Managing an engineering stores facility and oversight of other site raw materials, including chemicals, oils, and specialised equipment.
  • Identifying purchasing opportunities with key suppliers and maintaining strong relationships to ensure timely deliveries of essential spares.
  • Operating the CMMS inventory system, organising stock audits, and managing inventory levels to avoid surplus or stockout issues.
  • Administering purchase orders and coordinating with Finance for processing.
  • Processing job cards to maintain accurate stock records and controlling engineering spend.
  • Classification and management of critical spares, including high, medium, and low-movement items, and obsolescent stock reduction.
  • Courier and delivery arrangements as required for material deliveries or returns.
  • Supporting safety-related projects, maintenance activities, and operational initiatives in collaboration with the Plant team.
  • Coordinating with engineering and planning teams to ensure accurate part sourcing, tracking, and location for planned work.
  • Ensuring all engineering costs are immediately recorded and monitored for financial accountability.

Qualifications & Requirements

Candidates should have:

  • Previous experience in EfW (Energy-from-Waste), coal, CCGT, or thermal power plant operations and maintenance (advantageous, but not mandatory).
  • Engineering-related background or a readiness to transition into this sector with adequate transferable skills.
  • Knowledge of UK HSE legislation (strongly advantageous).
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a methodical approach to challenges.
  • Exceptional organisational skills to manage inventory, procurement, and operational demands.
  • Data processing and IT proficiency, particularly with Excel, and the ability to manage systems confidently.
  • Full UK driver’s licence.

Terms of Work

  • Full-time (40 hours/week) Monday to Friday
  • Paid overtime as required by BWSC Operations
  • Occasional and ad-hoc national travel may be necessary
