Multi Skilled Engineer

Location: Kara Foodservice, Manchester

Shift: Rotating shift, 4 on 4 off 12 hour shifts, Days and Nights

Salary: Competitive

We have an exciting opportunity for a Multi Skilled Engineer to join our Engineering team at our Kara site as part of Finsbury Food Group. Established in 1985, Kara offers a wide range of quality sweet and savoury bakery products, including both gourmet butter and vegan brioche buns, doughballs and teacakes. The Kara Bakery can bake over 1 million baps and burger buns every day.

The Multi Skilled Engineer is an onsite fast-paced role that will be responsible for working as an active part of our cross-functional maintenance team. You will be required to have excellent electrical and mechanical engineering skills along with strong organizational skills to be able to successfully function our site CMMS system. You will work within our Engineering department and will have a thorough and detailed approach to maintenance work with a proven track record of fault finding.

To be successful in this role, you will have good communication skills being able to mentor and coach other engineers and production operators. You will actively participate within the continuous improvement culture, identifying opportunities to improve efficiencies and reduce site waste and maintenance spends.

This is what you’ll actually do!

  • As a Multi Skilled Engineer, you will be responsible for taking ownership of site breakdowns and ensuring a quick diagnosis with corrective action.
  • You will be actively using CMMS system providing detailed reports.
  • You will ensure that the correct Health and Safety, Food Safety and Hygiene standards are followed at all times, whilst adhering to good working practices throughout.
  • As a team, you will make sure that the planned maintenance is completed to a strict schedule whilst always looking for improvements to ensure the reliability of the equipment and supporting the sites efficiency targets.

This role provides opportunity for learning and development, and you would take an active role in project developments.

Ideally this is you!

  • Be a time served apprentice or have an NVQ Level 3 equivalent
  • Skills within both Electrical and Mechanical Engineering
  • CompEx training would be beneficial
  • Strong communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Have previous experience in fault finding
  • Achievement of their 17th edition electrical certification
  • PLC proven programming capability
  • Have the skills to be able to mentor and coach other Engineers
  • Keen to play an active role in the future development of the site and engineering function
  • General PC skills
  • Previous food manufacturing experience would be beneficial
