We’re the UK's largest ports operator with a network of 21 ports around Britain. We handle around one quarter of the UK's seaborne trade and contribute £7.5 billion to our economy every year.

It’s a story we’re proud of but it doesn’t end there. We’re transforming our business and embracing the future.

We offer a vast range of roles spanning the UK, all rooted in a culture that welcomes diversity, fosters talent, encourages internal movement and progression, and places safety as our number one priority.

Due to an internal move we're currently looking for an Engineering Programme Manager to join our Projects team in the Humber region. Specifically focusing on developing projects from RIBA Stage 0 through to Tender stage, this is an opportunity to help with shaping the port infrastructure and how we operate in the coming years. You should have prior experience in a previous development role working on industrial or commercial schemes valued up to £20m. Some exposure to NEC Contracts and Consenting is preferred, but you must have exceptional stakeholder management skills with the ability to accurately translate both internal and external stakeholders requirements into solid engineering projects.

The role is responsible for managing a team of 4, and prior experience of direct report management is essential. The role can be based from either Hull or Immingham, but there will be project related travel across all 4 ports in the Humber region.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
