Working as the specialist point of contact for assigned vehicle commodities, the role requires a detailed understanding of part application, specifications, vehicle configurations, and market requirements. The Engineering Release Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring vehicle build quality and manufacturing success by enabling accurate part definition, coding, and downstream consumption across the business.
The role involves close collaboration with Engineering, Manufacturing, Suppliers, and other key stakeholders to ensure robust BoM creation, validation, and release processes.

- Act as the key focal point for customers and suppliers at commodity level, ensuring accurate and timely BoM releases.
- Provide guidance, coaching, and support to Engineering teams on effective BoM construction and downstream data requirements.
- Work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, suppliers, and industry partners to resolve issues and maintain delivery milestones.
- Manage workload effectively to support programme timing, key project milestones, and departmental objectives.
- Support Early BoM activities, file set-up, validation events, and engineering release readiness reviews.
- Identify and contribute to local process improvements to improve efficiency, quality, and delivery performance.
- Develop capability and flexibility to provide effective holiday and absence cover across the wider Engineering Release team and other relevant engineering areas.
- Undertake additional responsibilities and project activities as directed by the line manager.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
