Engineering Resource Planner
Inchinnan, Glasgow – Hybrid working
Part-time, Permanent

The Role:
An experienced resource planning professional with a strong focus on engineering operations, responsible for developing, implementing and continuously improving resource planning and allocation processes to ensure effective workforce utilisation and operational delivery. Skilled at providing clear visibility of current and future engineering resource requirements, supporting informed decision-making through transparent planning and forecasting. A proactive collaborator, contributing to Sales, Inventory and Operations Planning (SIOP) activities and working closely with stakeholders to optimise capacity, enhance communication processes and drive continuous improvements across systems, procedures and ways of working.
What you’ll be doing:
- Develop and maintain engineering resource plans, ensuring accurate allocation of personnel to meet project and organisational priorities.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineering leads, and functional stakeholders to understand short- and long-term resource requirements including bid work.
- Use planning tools (P6) to build and update resource forecasts, identify gaps or conflicts, and propose mitigation strategies.
- Establish, implement, and refine resource management processes, dashboards, and communication practices to improve visibility, consistency, and efficiency.
- Monitor resource utilisation and performance data, providing regular reports and insights to senior management.
- Support portfolio-level planning activities, including demand forecasting, scenario modelling, and capacity planning.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to resource planning, scheduling, and communication workflows.
- Ensure alignment with governance, quality, and compliance requirements across all resource planning activities.

What we’re looking for:
- Experience in resource management and workforce planning.
- Experience using and taking ownership of resource management software.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder-management abilities.
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and comfortable working with planning or data-driven systems.
- P6 experience strongly desired, though not required.
