About the Role
The Engineering Services Manager will play a key part in leading the Hydro Team, driving strategic direction to optimise performance, risk, and cost:
- Lead and oversee the strategic direction for Cruachan to enhance operational efficiency.
- Manage technical risk governance, ensuring compliance and best practices.
- Collaborate with Plant Managers and Operations Teams to maintain reliable, efficient operations and secure long-term asset integrity.
- Develop and assess business cases to drive performance improvements and sustainability.
- Champion safety and environmental standards, setting clear targets and initiatives.
- Support capital budgeting, outage delivery, and track monthly investments.
- Align long-term capital needs with safety, regulatory compliance, and market demands.
- Manage technical oversight of plant modifications and change initiatives.
- Oversee contract compliance (including CDM, PUWER, PSSR, LOLER) and support key site services.
- Lead, develop, and manage the Technical Services team, enhancing performance and capability.
- Set objectives, monitor delivery, drive continuous improvement in both plant operations and team performance.
- Lead and contribute to critical operational, engineering, safety, and project meetings.
- Ensure all resources, compliance systems, and operational processes support safe and efficient operations.
- Manage change initiatives and compliance to meet regulatory and business requirements.

Requirements
To succeed in this role, the ideal candidate will have:
- A degree in engineering or equivalent relevant experience.
- Proven leadership in power generation, engineering, maintenance, or operations environments.
- A strong grasp of hydro technologies and asset optimisation strategies.
- Commercial awareness in areas such as finance, procurement, and contract negotiation.
- In-depth knowledge of Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) legislation.
- A track record of results delivery in fast-paced operational settings.
- Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams, with strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.
- Negotiation and influencing skills to develop team capability effectively.
- An analytical mindset with the ability to analyse complex data for informed decision-making.
- Experience with technical specifications, tendering processes, contractor management, and HSE compliance.
