Salary Range: £75,876.00 – £87,836.00 Closing Date: 10 July

About the Role

The Engineering Services Manager will play a key part in leading the Hydro Team, driving strategic direction to optimise performance, risk, and cost:

  • Lead and oversee the strategic direction for Cruachan to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Manage technical risk governance, ensuring compliance and best practices.
  • Collaborate with Plant Managers and Operations Teams to maintain reliable, efficient operations and secure long-term asset integrity.
  • Develop and assess business cases to drive performance improvements and sustainability.
  • Champion safety and environmental standards, setting clear targets and initiatives.
  • Support capital budgeting, outage delivery, and track monthly investments.
  • Align long-term capital needs with safety, regulatory compliance, and market demands.
  • Manage technical oversight of plant modifications and change initiatives.
  • Oversee contract compliance (including CDM, PUWER, PSSR, LOLER) and support key site services.
  • Lead, develop, and manage the Technical Services team, enhancing performance and capability.
  • Set objectives, monitor delivery, drive continuous improvement in both plant operations and team performance.
  • Lead and contribute to critical operational, engineering, safety, and project meetings.
  • Ensure all resources, compliance systems, and operational processes support safe and efficient operations.
  • Manage change initiatives and compliance to meet regulatory and business requirements.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, the ideal candidate will have:

  • A degree in engineering or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Proven leadership in power generation, engineering, maintenance, or operations environments.
  • A strong grasp of hydro technologies and asset optimisation strategies.
  • Commercial awareness in areas such as finance, procurement, and contract negotiation.
  • In-depth knowledge of Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) legislation.
  • A track record of results delivery in fast-paced operational settings.
  • Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams, with strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.
  • Negotiation and influencing skills to develop team capability effectively.
  • An analytical mindset with the ability to analyse complex data for informed decision-making.
  • Experience with technical specifications, tendering processes, contractor management, and HSE compliance.
