About The Role
In this role, you’ll be out on the road supporting essential engineering services across BT Supply Chain. As a Mobile Tester, you’ll carry out inspections, testing and calibration of equipment, helping ensure safety, compliance and operational readiness across multiple locations.
This is a hands-on role where no two days are the same, combining technical testing, field-based work and customer interaction.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Carrying out Portable Appliance Testing (PAT), lifting equipment inspections and access equipment checks in line with safety legislation and BT standards
- Completing Gas Detection Unit (GDU) calibration, alongside servicing, minor repairs and maintenance of mechanical equipment
- Inspecting telephone exchange access equipment, including climbing and maintaining travelling ladders
- Travelling across Northern Ireland to meet customer appointments and complete testing in a single visit where possible
- Maintaining accurate records using systems such as SCORE Esi Test and managing relevant documentation (e.g. certificates)
- Ensuring your mobile vehicle is fully stocked, secure and ready to support daily activities
- Managing inventory, including stock replenishment and equipment tracking
- Maintaining high standards of health, safety and environmental compliance (ISO14001)
- Building effective working relationships with BT teams, customers and third-party partners
- Acting as an ambassador for BT Supply Chain, maintaining quality, performance and safety standards at all times
- Supporting wider operations, including travel to remote locations where required

Essential Skills/experience
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel long distances
- Good understanding of health and safety compliance
- Ability to carry out manual handling, including lifting heavy equipment
- Comfortable working at height (e.g. ladders/access equipment)
Desirable Skills/experience
- Experience in PAT testing, lifting equipment inspections or similar technical roles
- Knowledge of calibration processes, particularly gas detection units
- Experience servicing or repairing mechanical equipment
- Familiarity with compliance systems (e.g. SCORE Esi Test or similar)
- Experience managing stock or field-based inventory
